Once more, the CEOs Meeting took place on Wednesday, within the scope of Argentina Oil & Gas Expo, the event that gathers the leaders of the main companies in the oil & gas industry and aimed at discussing the challenges of the sector in Argentina.
The most awaited speech was that of Miguel Gutiérrez (President - YPF), who highlighted: “Unconventionals are the future, the bursting is yet to come, but we are near. This must be accompanied by technology advances and logistics development”.
As for the gas issue, he declared: “We must create a strategic project accompanied by a strong regulation, establishing a macro agreement where the rules of the game are well defined and granting export permits”.
“We ask for free markets for those in the private sector to give their opinion”, he said.
Before, it was Martin Cittadini (Enap - General Manager), who pointed out: “In Argentina, the gas demand is not clear: to achieve predictability, we need to know it. Moreover, there must be regulatory adjustments for gas exports and imports”
For his part, Teófilo Lacroze (President - Shell Argentina), stated: “With regards to the convergence to international prices, we are very positive. Argentina has an enormous advantage with Vaca Muerta, a formation with an absolute capacity to produce oil and gas at competitive prices”.
Jean-Marc Hosanski, Managing Director of Total Austral, declared: “Argentina must have a well-organized market to evaluate investment risks; this is the road we must take to encourage the gas production”.
