AOG 2017 ended successfully, with the participation of many visitors
During four days, the leading figures of the industry gathered at Argentina Oil & Gas Expo, the XI International Oil & Gas Exhibition. A total of 322 companies presented their latest technologies to more than 23,000 visitors of the sector. In addition, the show offered other important parallel activities.
Argentina Oil & Gas Expo 2017 exceeded the expectations as a meeting point for professional update of the oil and gas industry. Businessmen, professionals, decision-makers, academics and students of the sector participated between September 25th and 28th, in the major event of the hydrocarbon industry in the region.
The Exhibition, organized by the Argentine Oil and Gas Institute (IAPG), covered a surface of 35,000 sqm at La Rural Trade Center. There, 322 companies from 17 different countries (Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, Spain, United States of America, France, Malaysia, Monaco, Portugal, Russia, Taiwan, Turkey and Ukraine) offered their products and services to more than 23,000 visitors who walked around the three Pavilions of the Trade Center in these four days.
During the official inauguration ceremony, Eng. Ernesto López Anadón (IAPG’s President), pointed out the celebration of the Institute’s 60th Anniversary and declared: “Throughout these years, we have witnessed how the industry adapted to the political, economic and social contexts. Unexpected technology developments, oil and gas exploration methods have occurred. Our sector has a key role in the country’s economy”.
A place for knowledge sharing and businesses
As the years went by, the Exhibition has become an important setting to exchange technical knowledge and experiences, as well as to present technological novelties, equipment and trends; and above all, of course, to close business deals.
In that sense, many different activities took place in parallel to the Show and gathered a large audience.
The 3rd Latin American and Caribbean Congress on Drilling, Completion, Repair & Well Service was organized by the IAPG’s Drilling Committee and sponsored by ARPEL, with the presentation of more than 48 technical papers, and 4 conferences and 3 round tables developed. A total of 300 professionals were registered for this event.
The opening of the show was marked by the generational change, which added enthusiasm for the future through the 3rd JOG3 Talks – Oil and Gas Young Professional, for those who have joined the labour market recently: advanced students of scientific careers and other disciplines related to the energy world. Here, well-known speakers delivered their lectures on the topics of interest - that convened over 320 young professionals - and talked about the subjects that concern them the most.
Likewise, during three consecutive days, the traditional CEOs Meeting was carried out, a series of conferences that gathered the top executives of the main companies in the O&G industry. Each day, over 1,500 people were present to learn about the expectations and future plans of the key leaders of Enap, ExxonMobil, Pampa Energía, Pan American Energy, Pluspetrol, Shell Argentina, Tecpetrol, Total Austral, Wintershall Energía and YPF.
Two specific panels were also organized. These panels addressed subjects related to the current challenges of the industry in the Sustainability and Human Resources areas: the first panel was called “The contribution of the Oil & Gas industry to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda“ and the second, “Diversity and Integration in the Oil & Gas industry: experiences and ideas”. Both panels were attended by a large audience.
Besides, the activity designated to the secondary schools, “The Technical School visits AOG”, congregated teachers from different schools of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) and the Greater Buenos Aires areas (GBA).
In reference to AOG as a privileged scenario for companies and businesses, the International Matchmaking Programs included a total of 960 meetings with 62 Argentine manufacturers and producers ready to export and 17 foreign buyers from Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
Exhibitors, for their part, gave 55 technical and business conferences, where they presented and launched their products.
Furthermore, AOG 2017 was broadcasted through different channels. The AOG Channel offered 28 programming hours through the 10 screens strategically distributed in the Expo’s halls and held 70 interviews to outstanding entrepreneurs and professionals of the industry. Also, 18,000 copies of the AOG newspaper, the official publication of the event, provided a collection of the news day by day. Besides, IAPG social networks, shared minute-by-minute reports of everything that happened.
Argentina Oil & Gas Expo 2017 was organized by IAPG and carried out and commercialized by Messe Frankfurt Argentina. The twelfth Edition of the show has already been scheduled: it will take place between September 23rd and 26 th, 2019 at La Rural Trade Center in Buenos Aires.
Before that date, next year, the fifth edition of AOG Patagonia will be held from September 26th to 29th, 2018 at Espacio DUAM in the City of Neuquen. An event of increasing relevance in the provinces, also organized by IAPG, and - for the first time – carried out and commercialized by Messe Frankfurt Argentina.
